• Drawings are born from the model
  Views, sections and dimensions are generated from the solid and update when the solid changes. Nothing gets redrawn by hand any more, and the drawings can no longer lie about the part.
• The bill of materials comes out of the assembly
  The component list fills itself with what is in the assembly: no more hand counts that forget a part added at the last minute.
• The old DWG archive stays useful
  Yesterday's 2D drawings keep opening and printing. The conversion is done on the parts that will be modified, not on the whole archive at once.
• How long it really takes
  A draughtsman experienced in 2D is productive in Inventor after a couple of weeks on simple parts, and after a couple of months on assemblies. Anyone promising two days has never done the conversion.
